Gas fireplace flames — pilot light and ignition repair service

Diagnosis first

Why your pilot won't stay lit

When a pilot light goes out and won't stay lit after relighting, the root cause is almost always a faulty thermocouple or thermopile. These small sensors generate a millivolt signal that holds the gas valve open. When they wear out, the output drops below the valve's threshold — and the valve closes as a safety measure, killing the pilot flame.

Other possibilities: a blocked or dirty pilot orifice restricting gas flow, a drafty firebox pulling the flame off the thermocouple tip, or a weakening gas valve. We test the millivolt output first to confirm the diagnosis before replacing anything.

What to Expect

Usually Fixed Same Visit

Thermocouple and thermopile replacements are the most common gas fireplace repair we do. We stock parts for most major brands on the truck. In most cases, we diagnose, replace the bad component, relight the pilot, and verify it holds — all in one visit.

If the issue turns out to be a gas valve or something less common, we'll tell you exactly what's needed and give you a clear estimate before any additional work.
